Ed and Lancine at the Pont Saint-Benezet in Avignon, Provence, France

Hello and welcome!

You may wonder about the name of our site…

Maison Barbara, our home, is in Canyon Lake, Texas, in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. The terroir (land, sense of place) is similar in many ways to Provence, France. Rugged limestone hills, a warm dry summer climate with mild but sometimes cold winters. With our love of traveling to the south of France, and our joy of being able to live in the hill country, it just seemed natural to have a name that represents the junction of the two.

Another point to consider is our tagline: Ed and Lancine’s Texas Hill Country Living. As time goes by, you might notice that a substantial number of our posts have content that does not actually take place in the Hill Country. That is because although we do live in heart of it, the Hill Country is also a state of mind and way of being, a way of taking all that life hands you and making something wonderful with it…

We have created this site to share with our friends photos and commentary on things that
interest us, projects we are working on and places we’ve been – or want to go! (We enjoy
traveling and especially so when it is with a group of friends!)

The site is organized in to several categories:

  • Travel
  • Sailing
  • Foodie Stuff
  • Art
  • Home Improvement
  • Wood-working
  • Metaphysical Topics
  • Hill Country Happenings
  • Others as they pop up

We hope you enjoy your visits and come back often!
